Guard Force

The  security guard force for a facility provides the enforcement element in the physical-security program. This force should consist of personnel specifically organized, trained, and equipped to protect the security interests of the facility. It can be an effective tool in a comprehensive integrated physical security program.

  • General orders are those that concern the security force as a whole and are applicable to all posts
  • Special orders pertain to a permanent post or patrol. Each post should have special orders issued concerning the location, duties, hours manned and required equipment
  • Temporary orders are issued for a short period and cover a special or temporary situation

A security force Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that outline policies, organization, authority, functions, and other required information should be prepared for required reading. Each member of the security force should be held responsible for full knowledge and understanding of the SOP’s contents.
